FAQ
I have a hole in the toe or rand of the shoe. Can the shoe still be resoled?
Yes, no problem! When resoling, we put on a so-called rand rubber and close the hole for an additional charge of 10.- per shoe. However we recommend reparing the shoes before a hole appears.
Can I have just the toe repaired without resoling with half sole?
No, unfortunately that is not technically possible. For a rand repair you always have to replace the half sole as well.
I didn't have a hole in my toe, yet the rand was patched, why?
In some cases, the rubber of the toe of the climbing shoe, the so called rand is already very thin and there is not enough material to firmly attach the half sole. The sole would soon come off at the front of the shoe. This is why our experienced resolers decide at their own discretion whether a rand repair is necessary.
Can I have just one shoe resoled?
Yes, that is possible. We only charge half the price.
What is a half sole?
The half sole is the front third of your shoe sole. During the repair, your old shoe sole is sanded down and replaced with new high-quality rubber .
What is a toe or rand?
The rubber rand covers the toe of the shoe. If your shoe has a hole in the front or if the rubber rand is worn so thin that a hole would appear very soon, a new rubber rand must be put on to repair the toe of the shoe.
Do I have a warranty claim on my soled shoes?
Yes, if the sole starts to come off after a short time, we will of course re-glue it free of charge.
How do I pay?
We will send you the shoes together with an invoice and payment slip. Please do not forget to include your address when sending the shoes! Click here for the prices.
How long does it take to resole my shoes?
Once the shoes arrive at our repair shop, it will take about 2 weeks until you can climb again with your freshly resoled shoes.
What kind of rubber do you use?
We use high quality climbing shoe rubber (4 or 5mm) for maximum friction and durability.
Will the performance of my shoe be maintained after resoling?
The answer depends on the nature of the upper material. If the shoe is made of synthetic material (artificial leather), the shape of the shoe will usually remain the same and so will its performance after resoling. With a shoe made of real leather, the upper stretches, so that the shoe becomes more comfortable and can be used as a comfort- or multi-pitch shoe. Due to the stretch, leather shoes may loose performance over time, but may fit more comfortably.
Will my shoe retain its tension?
We use special climbing shoe lasts for pre-tension so that your shoe retains its usual downturn shape.
Can I personally come by the repair shop to bring my shoes ?
Yes, you can. We are here for you from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 17:30 at Sihlquai 244 in Zurich.
We will charge you 14.- less per resoling if you bring and pick up the shoes yourself.
Can I send my shoes from outside of Switzerland and Lichtenstein?
For parcels from abroad, considerable additional costs must be expected. The pre-paid resoling bags do not cover the costs of transport from abroad to Switzerland. The postage costs for return shipping must also be borne by the sender. We therefore advise against shipping from abroad.
